"This wolf was killed Jan. 22 1917 by a posse of men near our place ..." in Fremont Ohio (northwest part of the state) real photo postcard with our capition taken from the hand-written message, mailed April 12 1917 to Mr. and Mrs Will Ehler in Mansfield Ohio by 'Avilda H.' (Avilda Havens). Definitely a wolf; you can tell by the head shape. Definitely unusual then & there. And the posse comment is consistent with the well-known difficulty of hunting them--due to their sharp senses, endurance & ability to kill dogs. $50.00 o(f)a
