MICHIGAN AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE / M. A. C. A museum-worthy holding of 25 M. A. C. real photo postcards from the 1914 - 1915 & 1915 - 1916 academic years, the collection of a former student there. The year is special for two reasons: (1) The Engineering Building, so important to obtaining state university status, burned down, causing a benefactor to build an even better one. Wells Hall also burned as a result. (2) Playing a heavily favored 4-and-0 Michigan football team, the M. A. C. fans turned out in numbers, singing for the first time what would become their fight song today; in response, their team administered an 24 - 0 upset shutout in what is surely the greatest Michigan State football game ever played. Both events are well represented in the collection. Here they all are:
"M.A.C. Base Ball Squad - 1915" sepia-tone real photo postcard, small creases at the bottom corners, a little wear on the top edge. The only printing on the back is 'KOLLEGE KODAK SHOP. / EAST LANSING, MICH.' The 1915 roster was: Arthur Bibbins, Arthur Brown, Harold Clark, J. Francis Davis, Hilmar Fick, Lyman Frimodig, Merrill Fuller, Charles Hood, Robert McWilliams, William Miller, Harold Springer (who also played football!), Walter Thomas & Dean Williams.
