HOWDEN (GOOLE, YORKSHIRE). "G6XX" colorful continental QSL card on brown stock, used 1947 by operator D. E. Scarr, 4 small tape remnants on back, mild corner wear. $1.75 e(h)

HOWDEN (GOOLE, YORKSHIRE). "R38. Leaving the Hanger at Howden.  // Duncan / Copyright" unused circa-1919 sepia-tone real photo postcard with upper corners gone. The airship hangars were located in West Riding Yorkshire. They opened in 1916 & provided protection to shipping along the east coast of England. They closed shortly after World War I. Rare: The only other surviving example we could find is in the Hull Museums Collections, and is not currently on display. The only patrol airship of its type ever built, it crashed while in flight over Hull on 23 August 1921. Tragically 44 of its crew of 49 perished. $40.00 e(h)bwd NEW / NUEVO / NY

Several of these postcards have been posted at Isle of Wight locations, so we have used their range of dates for the collection. Lovingly stored for decades in an old album, there is only 1 badly damaged card. Others have minor defects--such as light album impressions at the corners, or toning on the back.
