Bochner' on the sidewalk & completed curb nearby. [The latter translates from German as 'Entwickler / Baumeister Bochner' or 'Developer / Master Builder Bochner'.] The Bochners were one of the first documented Jews in Bukovina, and Czernowitz is the major city of Bukovina. Buchbinder is the name of a Jewish banker in Czernowitz at that time. And thus this postcard depicts the Jewish bank building which was completed on the Ringstrasse there in 1899. "Gruss vom / Stabenfest Nördlingen" showing a girl's school marching with flags in front of the Hotel Krone; unused color postcard, Chr. Strauss 2462, back paper browning evenly with age (circa 1910), good edges. Stabenfest is a local celebration in May that dates back into the 15th century. All school children & their teachers march in a parade with staffs (staben) decorated with flowers, ribbons & flags. For some reason it is an uncommon subject for postcards. $20.00 bfggp

"Gruss von den Polauer Bergen  Ruine Meidenburg"  showing the ruins of Dívčí Hrad (sometimes seen Devicky Hrad) castle now in the Czech Republic, burned & plundered by Swedes in 1645; color postcard with a lightly embossed frame for the view, mailed 1909 with an Austrian stamp to Vienna, upper edge has mild edge wear, some writing lightly in the front border belongs. $4.25 chg

"GRUSS / von der / Schlossbeleuchtung" wonderful art showing man with bulbous red nose attempting to put his key in a lock, mailed in Heidelberg in 1928, long crease & corner crease that are hard to see. The thrice-annual event lights up the castle under a fireworks display to commemorate the 3 times in the past that the castle burned -- 1689, 1693, & 1764.
