JUN 29 1901 Christopher Mo. hand cancel on small envelope from Wiley B. McGee with return address in that town. JUN 29, and Topeka Kansas June 30th, company receiving mark July 1 lightly at bottom of front edge. Rambling note in sometimes hard-to-read handwriting recommending that the company contact his friends ('Friends' docketed on front), written on back of an obvious form letter on the company's stationery which he received sometime after May 15 1901. Further docketing on cover 'Wants agency' & 'When I come down I will tell you how to answer this'. Accompanied by another handwritten note on two pieces of paper written by McGee [cover not in the correspondence we received] in which he discloses his Aroma location, and lashes out state legislation recently passed. using political slang that is difficult to understand now. The form letter is a fascinating revelation into how this company recruited agents to sell its drugs, rather than sell through druggists. $30.00 for the cover, form letter on stationery, and the later handwritten letter complete on 2 pieces. mm-g
