ADVERTISING CARDS & MEDICAL ADS
"HIBBARD'S / Rheumatic Syrup / and Plasters" with gorgeous near-jewel-like colors depicting an Egyptian woman playing the harp, ad card of druggist S. M. Sackett of Monroe Michigan on the back gives wide-ranging claims & compositional details. Seldom seen & seldom offered.

AMUSEMENT PARKS & KANSAS. "Manufactured by / C. W. PARKER / World's Largest Manufacturer of Amusement Devices / Leavenworth, Kansas" with gorgeous art advertising  the wooden horses they made for carousels & merry-go-rounds; unused circa-1908 (unevenly divided back) postcard, trivial edge wear, just a hint of toning on back. Rare: we found no other offers, recorded sales, or exhibits when we searched the Internet.

ANGELS & MILLINERY. "Easter Greetings" angel with lute accompanies harpsichordist in art copyrighted 1908, deeply & intricately embossed postcard mailed MAR 24 1910 at Dansville Michigan to Mrs. John McMichael (who resided there), advertising a millinery sale at the Luongo Store in the following 2 days, excellent condition.

Artist_Mucha_Mailed_small.jpg (4613 bytes)ARTISTS & CZECHOSLOVAKIA. "NÁS PRAPoR NADE TUNY VLAJE" [S accented, U accented] from his 'Czech period'. Unsigned Mucha. Name "Neubert" [one of his publishers in Prague during the period 1912 to 1928 according to the Neudin catalogue] appears at the lower left corner of the art. Mailed in Czechoslovakia to New York in 1921, contemporaneous stamp confirming the writer's date. There is a small nick in its right edge, a faint corner crease (not in the design), and some light toning on the back. Some printed information on the edge left of the message area is obscured by the sender's message which is written sideways in dark ink over parts of it.

BLACKS & SOUTH CAROLINA. Gullah images of artist Jonathan Green, South Barrier Islands: "Passage" at left. "Red Slippers" at right.

California_LosAngeles_2220MotorBoating-100.jpg (327734 bytes)CALIFORNIA & PRIVATE SHIPS. "2220 - Motor Boating at East Lake Park, Los Angeles, California" showing a couple in a small launch near a group of white swans, exceptionally colorful post card from Edward H. Mitchell, circa 1910 before it was known as Lincoln Park, large album remnant on back. Someone should paint this scene.

CATHOLICISM. Beautiful uncaptioned postcard with a winter scene, sent from St. John's Convent Jan 8 1907 to Mr. James McAllister in Beatty Pennsylvania (very small) by Sister Evangelist to convey a New Year greeting, small upper corner crease, faint but long internal crease nearby. The clear N.Y. & PITTS. TR 31 R.P.O. RMS hand cancel is determinative that this was Sister Evangelist Wall, the first principal of what is now the renamed JFK Catholic School in Washington Pennsylvania.

DANCE & OHIO. "CINCINNATI / ballet" unused continental postcard promoting their 'Celebrating Women'  performances March 10-11, 2000. The dancer is Dawn Kelly, the photography is by Heithaus & the postcard design is by The Benchmark Group. A modern classic in near-mint condition.

Monaco_WielandtArt-100.jpg (245628 bytes)DESERTS & MONACO. "MONACO // J. VELTEN ÉDITEUR, KARLSRUHE" with signed Manuel Wielandt art. numbered 465 on back, unused post card, slight yellowing of the paper, internal crease with bend not into the art. A beautiful postcard. Note the prominence given to the cactus plant in order to implicitly convey the warm climate.

ELECTRONICS & DUTCH CHILDREN.
"Philips' ½ Watt" unused briefkaart with fresh colors, advertising an early incandescent light bulb; back paper browning evenly to show true age (circa-1914), minor wear at one upper corner. Rare: no other offers, recorded sales, or exhibits were found when we searched the Internet. The Nederlandsch Economisch-Historisch Archief has one of the advertising postcards for this bulb (there were several), but they do not show it. A beautiful postcard.

GIRLS. "NPG 2289" hand-tinted sepia-tone real photo postcard printed in Germany & mailed at Pittsburgh Pennsylvania circa 1910, three corner creases mercifully miss the beautiful girl, some oxidation in the corners, a trace of cancel ink on her shoulder. Taken in the days when photographers studied lighting & composition from famous paintings in museums & relied much less on technology.

IRAN & SCULPTURE. "Art of Achaemenian era" with a beautiful sculpture of a winged mythical beast, unused continental post card, near mint.

JAPAN. "Karuizawa at Dawn ..." also captioned in Japanese, sepia-tone postcard, very late usage at Cedar Kansas, toned back, tiny bottom corner crease. Beautiful & hard to find!

MAINE & PHOTOGRAPHERS. "SUNSET THRU FOG ON ATKINS BAY, POPHAM BEACH, MAINE" with lobster traps in silhouette, unused real photo post card from N. E. Otis (photographer in Bath, Maine), back is toned, but the front & edges are in excellent condition. This photographer is special: he conveys the beauty of the sunset in black & white, and simultaneously gives a you-are-there kind of feeling. Rare & beautiful.

MOVIES & THEATER. "VIVIEN LEIGH // IN THE ERICH POWER PRODUCTION / 'FIRE OVER ENGLAND' / PRESENTED BY LONDON FILMS" British stage & film actress on an unused art photo postcard in color, photograph printed in Great Britain, very light album toning on back, good edges, curl to the paper should straighten out in an album. Gorgeous; does her full justice.

NewJersey_Widwood_LifeboatIn-100.jpg (295975 bytes)
NEW JERSEY & LIFE-SAVING. "Lifeboat in the Breakers. AT WILDWOOD N. J." color postcard with undivided back from the Illustrated Postal Card Company, unused, corner & edge wear. Someone should paint this dramatic scene.

NEW YORK & WATER MILLS. "Old Mill Wheel, Peekskill, N. Y." lithochrome post card from The American News Company, mailed there 1907, writing on front in sky, a little extraneous writing on the back, minor corner wear, corner crease. A beautiful postcard that should inspire a landscape painter.

ShipOceanic_RedStarLine_O5-200_small.jpg ocean liner postcard available from judnick.comOCEAN-GOING SHIPS. PERFUME & FRANCE. "Cueillette des Violettes de la PARFUMERIE BRUNO COURT, GRASSE" showing women gathering violets, color on brownish paper, mailed 1911, 3 corner creases, edge wear. Someone should paint this scene!

Mutoscope_GoldenHours-200_small.jpg nude pin up arcade cards available from Judnick.comPINUPS. "GOLDEN HOURS" art on a seldom-seen (have a look & you know why) Mutoscope arcade card from the Hotcha Girls series, depicting a redhead with pillow lips & a stunning figure clad only in a tight-fitting diaphanous bathing suit; fresh colors, light wear on both long edges appears to have been the subject of a color-restoration attempt (not ours!), very light toning at the top of the back is from the production process itself. Most every man's fantasy. The only time we have ever seen it in 31+ years of dealing. The best example the dealer we bought it from ever saw in his years of dealing; he saw no need to attempt to restore it either.

PREHISTORIC  & KENTUCKY. "Eagle Bowl Excavated in Burial Tombs, at King Mounds, Ancient Buried City, Wickliffe, Ky. / 93213" unused black & white post card, good edges.
