The photographer Scherl is best known for his photos of important Nazis; notice how the swastika is prominent in his image. SCHERL. "Ruhig zieht der Luftreise seine Bahn / Echte Fotografie Foto Scherl / Das neue deutsche Zeppelin-Luftschiff L. Z. 129 / Das gröβte Luftschiff der welt." showing the Hindenburg (as "Quiet air travel takes its course" when brand new); real photo postcard mailed 13 IV 1936 from Marseille-Gare France with a 90-rf stamp to Miss Ina Johnston in Brooklyn New York. Back printing reads 'Nr. 129/IV Gesetzlich geschützt Alleinverlag Albert Horn, Gotha' (legally protected exclusive publishing house). The photographer Scherl is best known for his photos of important Nazis. The lengthy handwritten message on both sides is by someone who has flown on it and met the captain: 'Do try it sometime! This is the highest spot of any trip. And Rio is the French point of departure. It is so beautiful. According to the various papers here (English and French) the Hindenburg seems to have caused considerable anxiety. None of the passengers have or seem to have any fear or misgivings in spite of the [?] crippled engines and [?] taking the shortest possible route at the last instead of flying over the Alps. Captain Lehmann is a wonder! We that sat at his table admired ... his skill, his knowledge, exceedingly great modesty, his friendliness ... The postcards of this photographer have been reproduced many times, but here you have a chance to own the real thing! $40.00 zpn
