BADDECK (CAPE BRETON ISLAND). "BRAS D'OR LAKES  BADDECK, C.B." with a solitary lady reading a book while she sits in a rowboat; sepia-tone real photo postcard conveying a sense of peace & quite that is possible there, much oxidation, interesting & lengthy message about a visitor's impressions about the culture & sites to see in & around Baddeck, dated Aug. 31 1916. $4.50 ns NEW / NÝR / NOU

BALTIMORE & OHIO RAILROAD COMPANY. "Engine 'Atlantic' & Coach Nova Scotia / Martinsburg W. V. / May--1915" unmailed & uncaptioned (se we used the writing on the front) sepia-tone Azo (triangles up) real photo postcard, dark image but the focus is excellent (every brick in the background can be seen in Photoshop), trivial corner wear, light album toning at the back corners. The engine built in 1832 for the B&O Railroad & this coach were lent out from time-to-time to expositions & exhibitions, returning from its travels to this shop for maintenance. The circa-1838 6-passenger coach is not as often seen on postcards; it was purposed to transport the Director of the General Mining Association of Nova Scotia. Here then are 2 of the 3 known North American passenger equipment to survive from the 1830's. Possibly unique: no printed caption, no photographer attribution, no publisher credit. Sold but front side still available for scholarly study & research as an enlarged 300-dpi scan (publication quality) in .jpg format for $3.75. w(m)r(b)n

BRAS D'OR LAKE (CAPE BRETON ISLAND). "About 1879. / Beside Bras d'Or Lake, Nova Scotia. / A Micmac Indian squaw scrapes / a hide with a wooden scraper." with unattributed art on a well done home-made (and, hence, unique) post card mailed 1961 from Emmett Kansas, minor wear to one upper corner not affecting the image. The name of the tribe is also seen spelled Mi'kmaq or Mikmaq. $2.25 ni

This slogan refers to the price of wheat controlled by the now-permanent Canadian Wheat Board monopsony; post 1939 the Eastern Provinces required such periodic reminders that were of course totally unnecessary out west. $2.50 n(h)-na

HALIFAX (HALIFAX COUNTY). "VE1NP" QSL card on brownish stock mailed JAN 9 1939 by operator William Edward 'Hap' Robinson to Pennsylvania, minor edge wear. Hap served as a leading telegraphist on the Prince David, the Hepatica & the Louisburg during World War II. $3.00 n(h)
