CLARK COUNTY. "#17 3/29/13
Lining Track Near Ryans" unused sepia-tone Azo (triangles up) real photo
postcard showing about 25 men lining up railroad tracks that had moved
because of the earlier flood, mostly using leverage & muscle power, toned
back, oxidation consistent with age. $17.50 o(c)d
NB: There is no town named Ryans or Ryan's in Clark County, but a history of
the county recounts that a tannery was established there by a man named
Ryan, that had been abandoned before 1908. That is our best surmise as to
how the location was referred to by the railroad employees taking the
pictures & captioning the negatives.
CLARK
COUNTY. "Ryans #13 3/25/13"
unused sepia-tone Cyko real photo postcard
showing railroad track inspection for damage after the flood, from a group
we purchased showing such efforts in Clark County -- Enon, Snyderville,
Medway, West Springfield, etc. Unused
sepia-tone Cyko real photo postcard with good edges & a lightly toned back
Notice that this photo has unusually precise dating in the caption. Most
likely at least one set was produced for railroad management & another set
for the insurance company; captioning so they could discuss the images &
their claims over the phone. [They say a picture is worth a thousand
words.] We offer what we have secure in the belief that none of these were
commercially produced. $10.00 o(c)d

address itself is interesting: Fowler's was in Brooke County & had a post
office until 1901. So this is one of the last pieces of mail that it
handled. The date is interesting politically, too! The flames of such

Astrachan is seen with a more modern spelling Astrakhan, in the Volga delta
of the Caspian sea--prime caviar country. It is landlocked there so it would

traffic on the continent was disrupted throughout that war. The Boyars were

showing railroad track inspection for damage after the flood, telephone pole

efforts in Clark County -- Enon, Snyderville, Medway, West Springfield, etc.
There is no town named Red Mill in the United States, but Clifton is a very
small town in Clark County which has as its most conspicuous feature an
unusually large & historic red mill (see the postcard above). Unused
sepia-tone Azo (triangles up) real photo postcard with low contrast, back
paper starting to show its age. Taken to document the condition of
railroad tracks in the vicinity after the Great Flood which included the
nearby Little Miami River. They say a picture is worth a thousand words.
Notice that this photo has unusually precise dating in the caption. Most
likely at least one set was produced for railroad management & another set
for the insurance company; captioning so they could discuss the images &
their claims over the phone. We offer what we have secure in the belief that
these were not commercially produced. Sold but front
