OHIO POST CARDS & POST CARDS--O LOCATIONS

OAK HARBOR (OTTAWA COUNTY). "ASHBACKER'S HIGH SCHOOL BAND / OAK HARBOR, O." uncaptioned (so we use all the writing on the drum) cyanotype real photo postcard mailed in August 1911 (stamp removed), forwarded from Fostoria to Miss Susan Maurer in Toledo, good edges, light smudge in the address area obscures nothing. George F. Aschbacher (note spelling difference!) was superintendant of the Oak Harbor public schools & a teacher at the parochial school for St. Johns' Evangelical Lutheran Church (also a choir director there). When we searched the Internet for this postcard we found no offers, no recorded sales & only 1 display (at the Ohio Historical Society). Rare: possibly due to the misspelling of his name on the drum! $50.00 $40.00 o(o)mg SALE PRICE: SAVE $10.00 (20% OFF)

RUSSIA (LORAMIE TOWNSHIP, SHELBY COUNTY). "Main Street Russia O.  Thomas" in Shelby County Ohio, including an auto, signs at the left (Sun Brother's World's Progressive Shows Monday Sept., honest scrap, ...); unused sepia-tone Cyko real photo post card, minor corner rounding, oxidation consistent with age. Sun Brother's was a 3-ring circus with elephants having active routes for daily shows 1911-1913 which helps to date this image. This type of advertising in small towns was a common way to publicize one-day circus shows in nearby communities, but the one-day nature of the corresponding events meant that most were soon plastered over with other notices. So its is a treat to actually see such a poster on a real photo postcard. Sold but front side still available for scholarly study & research as an enlarged 300-dpi scan (publication quality) in .jpg format for $3.75. o(r)cm
