suggestive of circa-1913 age. Oil Springs is a village in Lambton County
Ontario. We are told that the aircraft shown may be superimposed

C-481" with a Conoco (Consolidated Oil Company) truck parked near the Daily Tribune on the left, opposite the Willmar theater & Lakeland Hotel; real photo post card mailed there JUL 23 1946 to Miss Alice Cook in Bridgeton New Jersey, small upper corner crease, previous owner's pencil writing on back may not erase well. "Caddo Oil Field near Shreveport, La. Saenger Bros. Publishers, Shreveport, La." post card mailed 1908 at Texarkana to Mrs. James Barr Wilson in Columbus Ohio (where it was forwarded). Interesting commentary on scene from the sender: 'This scene is about 50 miles south of here, where there is now a large oil & natural gass(sic) field - Texarkana uses gas from this field - it is very cheap'; minor corner wear & rounding. "CAPT. FRANK HAWKES(sic) flew from New York to Los Angeles and back to New York in 36 house flying time, a world's record." Correctly spelled & more precisely, Hawks began his flight in the 'Texaco Five' NR7955 on February 4 1929 from Lockheed's Burbank California factory. Unused postcard with trivial corner wear. HIGHWAY 62)" showing El Capitan; monochromatic olive-green postcard, distributed to publicize Conoco Touraide guides available at their gasoline stations; unused, very light toning on back. There is more than the spelling error: Guadalupe Peak is actually the highest in Texas & El Capitan (correctly spelled) is the eighth highest. Everywhere we find it on the Internet are offers at $15.00, with the claim unresearched. Know what you are getting & buy here instead for only $9.00. t(e)gm

"Flowing Well ~ Oil City, Pa." postcard mailed there MAY 4 1907 (flag cancel, stamp corner scrape) to Mr. George Mathias in Mahanoy City Pennsylvania, upper corner crease, mild toning both sides included some speckles of cancel ink in the front sky, minor corner & edge wear. Lots of wells were to be seen there at that time, as the writer comments. $7.50 p(o)o

"NX62E / Billy Parker" flying a 1912 Model Curtis Pusher, with an ad on back for Phillips 66 aviation gasoline, unused postcard, light toning near the stamp box & the left front border, otherwise fairly fresh. Mr. Parker was long-time manager of Aviation Sales at Phillips Petroleum Company from 1927 on. The "pusher" shown was his own successful design which first conquered the altitudes of his native Colorado, and later was demonstrated for Phillips publicity purposes. $9.50 a(p)onm

"This card was brought from Germany on the GRAF ZEPPELIN - voyage ending August 4, 1929" advertising card for Veedol Motor Oils (actually used on the airship) distributed by the Tide Water Oil Company. Made in Germany & regular postcard size, but both message part & address part of back are ads in English for Veedol Motor Oil. When we searched the Internet we found: no other offers, a few recorded sales in multiple postcard lots in auctions, & only one recorded sale when offered by itself. So we say it is seldom offered. Uncaptioned & unused sepia-tone Azo (triangles up) real photo post card showing a Standard Oil Company horse-drawn delivery wagon. Signage as follows (left-to-right): USE MICA AXLE GREASE, KEROSINE AND PERFECTION OIL, STANDARD OIL CO. The seemingly strange alternate spelling was used for industrial purposes because Kerosene had become a genericized trade mark. Kerosine/Kerosene was use in lamps of the day; Perfection Oil was used in smokeless oil heaters. The company carried oil from the Kern River fields to San Francisco where it would be marketed.
