small conspicuous price erasure mark on back lightens some otherwise
pervasive toning. An uncommon card. Records indicate that the road needed
repair, grading & drainage on an irregular basis from 1906 on. We speculate
that this view originated to document the condition of the road & accompany
a contractor's invoice, subsequently to be used when no longer needed. SOLD

NESTOR FALLS (KENORA
DISTRICT). "CANADIAN HAVEN - NESTOR FALLS - ONT - CANADA." unused CKC real
photo postcard, glossy finish, excellent composition & contrast, spot of
yellowish toning near the stamp box gets a bit through the left front
border (probably from the developing solution). Note the misalignment in the
2 parts of the caption, the uneven bottom border of the image & the
curvature in the right part of the caption -- all suggesting that this was a
photographer's proof, not a card that was produced in commercial quantities.
We believe that several such proofs were offered to the owner but that none
were selected -- explaining why none are encountered used, and all the
different unused ones that you find have the same sort of captioning
irregularities. If we are right, then this postcard is actually unique. Sold but front
