DANIEL BOONE CARLOCK.
"Christian Church  Martel, O." unused Azo (triangles up) real photo with good focus & composition, good edges (shown at bottom). Another (at top), similar but cropped a differently & less contrast, a little browning on back edges. These 2 cards, from the estate of Ohio photographer Dan Carlock are exceptionally interesting because they show the variation inherent in real photo postcard production at the time. Both for $35.00 op

Note: Our proof real photos for Central Ohio are all
from the estate of Licking County photographer Daniel Boone Carlock,
a portion of which we purchased.
His name does not ordinarily appear on his postcards,
but credit where credit is due!

DANIEL BOONE CARLOCK.
"Deciple(sic) Church  Greenwich, O." showing an exterior corner view of the Desciple Church there, sepia-tone Azo real photo (triangles up) photographer's proof postcard with eventual caption handwritten on back, annotated 50 on the back (the order quantity). Focus & contrast are good, but the composition (presumably fixed when produced) is tilted. The photographer was Daniel Boone Carlock. Obviously unique. Circa 1910. $30.00 o(g)p

DANIEL BOONE CARLOCK. "East on Main St. from M. E. Church / Groveport Ohio" as it looked in 1910, showing one residence that has since been demolished & a grocery in the distance (near the horse & wagon) that has since burned down; sepia-tone proof for a post card with the caption that was eventually used written in hand on the back by the photographer Daniel Boone Carlock, who also noted the quantity ordered--25. Good focus & composition, as you would expect from a proof, paper browned a bit with age, small dark spot in sky from a drip of chemical when printed. 'Groveport' is also hand-written on the front, but the photographer underlined the Ohio in 'Groveport Ohio' on the back. There is no other Groveport in the US, so apparently he did this to emphasize that his customer wanted the state name spelled out. Literally unique, belongs in a museum. $35.00 omp

DANIEL BOONE CARLOCK. "High School  Greenwich, O." showing an exterior corner, sepia-tone Azo real photo (triangles up) photographer's proof postcard with eventual caption handwritten on back, annotated 50 on the back (the order quantity). Focus & contrast & composition is good. The photographer, Daniel Boone Carlock, was going to make 25 but the order was increased. Obviously unique. Circa 1910. $27.50 o(g)p
