"1392 ALTEROCCA - TERNI / Tina di Lorenzo nella Samaritana" post card with undivided back mailed in Italy circa-1900 to -1903, slight damage to stamp by sender, minor corner wear, a few tiny dark spots of toning on both side. Starred in several roles in stage & cinema, but early enough that few details are known about her. Virgil Alterocca is credited with introducing the first illustrated postcards to Italy. $8.00 tmi
"Admiralspalast. / Ellen Dallerup / in dem Eisballett 'Flirt in St. Moritz." / 69 / PHOT. WILLINGER BERLIN" exquisitely hand-tinted real photo postcard with numerous paste beads applied, unused, good edges, slight oxidation near the front corners consistent with age. The Admiralspalast is an unusual theater in Berlin, built 1911, which included a large skating rink on which ice ballets & shows were performed. When not in use, the ice rink could be covered over with a wooden floor for dancing. POST CARD CO." monochromatic blue postcard mailed but not canceled to Miss Ida Nusbaum on a rural route Grabill Indiana, stamp removal attempt not successful (left a scrape at one missing stamp corner), toned back, approximately 1" internal crease from the left front edge affects nothing important, bottom corner with 2 small creases, all corners with minor rounding. Writing on front is legible in just the right light. Post Office and Hartman Theatre, Columbus, Ohio" as seen from across the street, post card published by Haenlein Brothers, mailed there 1913 to Mrs. Frank Heckeman in South Bend Indiana, small upper corner crease, mild corner & edge wear, approximately 1" internal crease from the top edge, just a few tiny speckles of cancel ink show in the sky. Mentioned in the Los Angeles Herald of November 24, 1908 as a theater act that would be performed that week. What ever happened to them? We can only speculate that an accident was inevitable. Now in the Tate Britain National Gallery of Art, it caused controversy because it was perceived by some as anti-Catholic.
