Later to headquarter the Amphibious Training Command, Atlantic Fleet, during World War II. More than 40 significant assaults on enemy beaches were planned & practiced on the beach you see here. "The Roma Before the Great Disaster.  Norfolk 1922. // Long's Studios" unused Azo (triangles both ways) real photo postcard, backstamped neatly with blue oval 'LONG'S / QUALITY PRINT / NORFOLK, VA.', toning near the back edges, oxidation consistent with circa-1920 age. This semi-rigid airship was the last hydrogen-filled aircraft flown by the US Army; helium was used thereafter. It was destroyed in a crash on 21 February 1922 at Norfolk Virginia, killing 34 souls & injuring 8 others.
