TACOMA / COMMENCEMENT CITY (PIERCE COUNTY). "114  THE ELECTRIC RAILWAY STATION AT POINT DEFIANCE PARK, TACOMA, WASH.  48319" white-border era post card from a photo credited to F. H. Nowell, very light toning both sides, very late usage at Alderton Washington (large Boys Town seal depicting high school students at a library), soft corners. The operators were the Tacoma Railway & Motor Company, which connected to The Tacoma & Steilacoom Railway (the world's first interurban). The reason you do not see more people, was that railway charged an extra nickel if you rode to this last stop; many walked. $9.00 w(t)r(t)
